Shinhoster is the conference's Wrestler of the Year for the second consecutive season. The senior wrapped up his illustrious career with a second consecutive national title at 184 pounds. Shinhoster's incredible 33 win season included a third career WIAC title and his second at 184 pounds and one of the most dominant regional performances in history en route to a second straight Upper Midwest Regional title that all culminated with his second consecutive national title. His regional performance in 2023 included four consecutive falls as he was in action on the mat for a total of just six minutes and eleven seconds.
The fifth-year senior has a career mark of 112-15 with 57 pins, 9 technical falls and 28 major decisions.
Mallinder is the second Warhawk to earn Newcomer of the Year honors (
Ethan Pogorzelski (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), 2020-21). The freshman cruised through the 133-pound weight class at the 2023 WIAC Championships pinning UW-Eau Claire's Tyler Fleetwood in 6:21 in the title bout. With his performance, Mallinder was named the Kwik Trip John Peterson Wrestler of the Meet, the 12th Warhawk to earn the honor in program history. Mallinder went on to claim the Upper Midwest Regional title at 133 pounds to punch his ticket to the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships. He posted 31 win in his first season competing collegiately.
