The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team improved to 15-6 including a 6-4 league mark with a lopsided 86-66 win over UW-Stevens Point Wednesday night.
UWW grabbed an early lead and steadily built an advantage throughout the first half eventually taking a 20-point, 43-23, lead at the intermission. Three Warhawks were already in double figures in the scoring column by the break as
Carter Capstran (Franklin, Wis./Franklin),
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) and
Drew Fisher (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) each registered 10 points in the first 20 minutes of action.
The Pointers picked it up in the second half but UWW's cushion never dipped into single digits the rest of the way. The Warhawks led for 39:25 of the 40 minutes in the contest.
UW-Whitewater was efficient offensively shooting over 60-percent from the floor in the contest. On par with the theme nearly the entire season, the Warhawks enjoyed a hefty advantage from the free throw line hitting 17-27 while UWSP was just 11-15.
Capstran ended up with a game-high 19 points on 7-9 from the field. Fisher was 6-10 from the floor and 5-8 from the charity stripe for 17 points. The pair combined for 10 rebounds and four assists. Chislom dropped in 14 points added five boards, three assists, a steal and a block while
Elijah Lambert (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) posted 11 points and led the Warhawks with eight rebounds.
