The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team fell to UW-Oshkosh 80-61 on the road Wednesday night.
Statistically both teams shot over 45-percent from the floor and nearly 50-percent from long range but the Titans hit 13-26 from three-point range compared to 6-13 for the Warhawks. Turnovers were also key as 17 UWW miscues turned into 15 points while UWW scored 6 on 10 UW-Oshkosh giveaways.
The first seven minutes were a back-and-forth battle. At the 12:48 mark, the Titans hit a layup to claim the lead and spark a 9-2 run. The Warhawks would cut the margin down to two multiple times the rest of the half but never regained the advantage heading into the locker room with a 41-35 deficit. UW-Oshkosh led the rest of the way.
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) led UWW with 16 points on 7-14 from the floor adding a team-high seven rebounds.
Miles Barnstable (Sheboygan, Wis./Howards Grove) dropped in 13 points bolstered by 3-4 from beyond the arc.
The Warhawks, now 2-3 in league play, return home to host UW-Stout at 5 pm Saturday.
