The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team opened up their season with an 8-1 win against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the Outdoor Tennis Complex in Whitewater Friday afternoon.
UW-W took two of three matches in doubles play. Kasey Schlict and
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) were the first Warhawks to register a win on the day, posting an 8-3 victory at No. 2.
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) and
Bethany Marshall (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) followed with a second doubles win at No. 3.
Whitewater swept the Blugolds in singles play earning wins across the board.
Faith Nosek's (Oconomowoc, Wis./BVA) 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sydney Presler clinched the match win for the Warhawks.
UW-Whitewater will host the Warhawk Invite tomorrow, September 3.
