The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will head to Mount Berry, Georgia to take on Berry College for their third game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. Central Time at Valhalla Stadium.
After opening the season will a tough loss to a top-five ranked Saint John's University on the road, the Warhawks bounced back with an incredible win over former No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor last week. In front of over 14,000 fans at Perkins Stadium, UW-Whitewater battled the entire game, one that is certainly an instant classic. Not only did UW-W stop the Cru on the Warhawks' goal line four consecutive times, but Whitewater followed with a phenomenal 99-yard scoring drive that culminated with the game-winning touchdown with just 13 seconds remaining.
The Warhawks dominated time of possession in the game. The UW-W offense was on the field 11 minutes longer than UMHBÂ running a total of 71 plays in the contest compared to just 50 for the Crusaders. Evan Lewandowski (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Lake Zurich) had a career game at quarterback for the Warhawks going 28-35 for 301 yards with three touchdown passes. He led the Warhawks 99-yards going 8-11 in UW-W's final possession of the game, one that is simply known as "The Drive".
Time of possession will likely be a major factor in the game Saturday as Berry's offense is on the field an average of 21:30 per game this season. The Warhawks' average time of possession per contest - 33:20.
UW-Whitewater moved up two spots to fourth in the latest d3football.com poll after defeated UMHB last Saturday.
Berry has opened the 2022 campaign with a pair of wins. The Vikings defeated Maryville 31-24 on the road to open the season, and topped LaGrange College 56-10 last Saturday at Valhalla. Historically, Valhalla has been a tough place for opponents to visit. The Vikings are 30-5 on their home field under Head Coach Kunczewski.
