The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer scored two goals in the second half to defeat Augsburg University 2-1 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Despite holding the advantage in most offensive categories, the Warhawks trailed Augsburg 1-0 after the first 45 minutes. UW-W led 4-3 on shots and 3-0 on corners in the first half, but the Auggies led after a goal in the 17th minute.
The Warhawks tallied the equalizer early in the second half.
Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis) found the back of the net on a long rising shot to the top left corner from about 40 yards out to even the game 1-1.
Both goalies turned away a couple great scoring chances from the opposition until UW-W broke through again in the 63rd minute. Thill drove in to the box and found
Megan Howard (Lakeland, Minn./Stillwater Area) on the right side. She fired across goal, besting the Auggie keeper inside the left post to give the Warhawks a 2-1 lead.
Just 10 minutes later, Augsburg drew a foul in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. UW-W keeper
Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep) read the Auggie player taking the penalty and registered the save to seal the win for UW-Whitewater.
Dobrinska picked up the complete game win posting two saves in net. Thill was the most active offensively with three shots including two on frame, the goal and an assist in the contest.
