Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team collected All-America honors Saturday on the third and final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Warhawks finished 16th at the meet with 17 team points.
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) led the way with a national runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His personal record time of 8:50.87, the second-fastest ever run in program history, was just three-tenths of a second off the winning pace. Patzka is now a three-time All-American in his career, including twice in the steeplechase.
Patzka later competed in the 5,000-meter run, placing 12th in 14:41.46.
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) earned his first career All-America medal by placing fourth in the 1,500-meter run. He posted a time of 3:48.51 in Saturday's final, just four-tenths of a second out of third place. Krause broke the school record in the event earlier this season.
Shelvin Garrett II (Beloit, Wis./Memorial) completed his fantastic 2022 season with fifth-place finish in the triple jump. He recorded his career best distance of 49-05.75 (15.08 meters) on his final attempt of the day. Garrett is now a two-time All-American in the triple jump.
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) capped his outstanding throwing career in the hammer throw, finishing 11th with a mark of 181-01 (55.21 meters) to move up nine spots from his initial seeding in the event. Martin earned indoor All-America honors twice in the weight throw.
