The No. 9 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team extended its winning streak to 12 games and maintained its first place standing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Sunday with two wins against UW-Stout in a doubleheader at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.
The Warhawks (27-6 overall, 19-3 WIAC), who hold a two-game lead in the loss column with six games to play, defeated the Blue Devils 7-1 in the first game before capping the day with an 8-3 win in Game 2.
In the opener, UW-Whitewater tallied three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good and
Westin Muir (Highlands Ranch, Colo./St. Charles North (Ill.)) combined with two relievers for a four-hitter.
Muir (8-1) struck out 11 batters over seven innings before being relieved by
Cade Berendt (Germantown, Wis./Germantown), who tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning.
Nick Rector (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) struck out the side in a perfect ninth.
UW-Stout (15-17, 10-12) took the lead with one run in the top of the third before the Warhawks responded in the fourth. Designated hitter
Sam Paden (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) knocked a two-run double down the left field line to start the scoring and second baseman
Sam Vomhof (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) hit a sacrifice fly to increase the UW-W lead to 3-1.
UW-Whitewater tacked on one more in the fifth on a run-scoring single by third baseman
Matt Korman (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and added three more in the seventh thanks to an RBI single by catcher
Ryan Norton (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), a hit-by-pitch by Paden and a ground ball by shortstop
Bennett Frazer (Hobart, Wis./Oconto).
Centerfielder
Zach Campbell (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) led the offense with three hits, one walk and one run scored. Korman totaled two hits, one walk, two runs scored and one RBI, while Norton finished with two hits, one run scored and one RBI.
First baseman
Nick Paget (New Berlin, Wis./West) reached base three times with two hits and one walk. Left fielder
Matt Scolan (Downers Grove, Ill./South) scored a pair of runs.
In the second game, Campbell smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the second to give the Warhawks the lead for good.
Kade Lancour (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) improved to 7-0 on the mound with an eight-inning, seven-strikeout performance. Rector pitched around a two-out double for a scoreless ninth.

Jacob DeMeyer (Harshaw, Wis./Rhinelander) and designated hitter
Karsen Rupnow (Ixonia, Wis./Oconomowoc) each finished with two hits. Norton and Rupnow tallied one run scored and one RBI apiece, while DeMeyer plated two runs, scored one run and added one walk.
Paget reached base three times with one hit and two walks and added two runs scored. Shortstop

UW-W recognized its alumni in attendance following Game 1. Approximately 40 former student-athletes were in attendance for the weekend. In addition, All-American
Matt O'Sullivan (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland), a pitcher from 2018-21, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. He and Muir were recognized as part of All-American Day presented by PremierBank.
