The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team continued its strong play away from home, posting its fifth win true road win of the 2021 season Thursday night with a 7-0 victory at Ripon in a non-conference match.
The Warhawks (7-3 overall) extended their winning streak to five matches, totaling a season-high 43 shots, including 25 on goal, in the contest.
Olivia May (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) and
Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) connected for UW-Whitewater's first two goals. Brodjian scored on a header on a feed from May in the second minute, and found the back of the net from 15 yards out on another pass from May in the 16th minute.
Madisyn Frank (Lake Geneva, Wis./Elkhorn Area) made it a 3-0 match in the 48th minute, taking advantage of a 1-v-1 opportunity with the keeper.
Belle Blauert (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka) took a pass from
Carley Albrecht (Milton, Wis./Milton) in the 72nd minute and increased the UW-W lead to 4-0.
Taylor Carlson (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) tallied the Warhawks' fifth goal of the match in the 79th minute, and was assisted by Albrecht. Four minutes later,
Megan Kurtz (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) scored on a shot from 20 yards out, assisted by
Savannah Curtis (Lodi, Wis./Lodi).
Payton Navis (Cedar Grove, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) accounted for the final margin with an unassisted goal in the 86th.
Lilly Horne (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and
Emma Hager (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) combined for the shutout in goal.
UW-Whitewater collected 17 corner kicks and held the Red Hawks (0-9-1) to one shot in the match.
The Warhawks visit UW-Platteville Wednesday for their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
