The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team improved scores in all four events in its second meet of the season Saturday, a 187.825-184.425 win at UW-Stout in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual.
The Warhawks started the meet on uneven bars and finished with a team score of 46.025.
Blaise Wilson (Thornton, Colo./Legacy) led the field of competitors with a 9.450.
Taiya Stelmachowski (Plainfield, Ill./Central) tied for second with a 9.325, while
Emily North (Oklahoma City, Okla./Moore) tied for fifth with a 9.150.
Morgan McEntire (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) placed seventh with her 9.125, and
Faith Mylin (Elgin, Ill./Harvest Christian Academy) tallied an 8.975 to finish ninth.
On vault, UW-Whitewater scored a 47.050, including a team-best score of 9.425 from Mylin and North, who tied for second overall. McEntire, Wilson and
Meg McGinley (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) each registered a score of 9.400 to tie for fourth.
The Warhawks placed four of the top six in the floor exercise and collected a team score of 47.500, the team's highest score in any event during the meet. Wilson led the team and placed second with a 9.600, and Mylin finished just behind with a 9.575, good for third place.
Vanessa Olinger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) tied for fourth with a 9.500,
Abi Hair (Oakland, Fla./West Orange) placed sixth with a 9.450 and
Karina Sabol (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) tied for eighth with a 9.375.
UW-Whitewater finished 1-2-3 on balance beam, led by
Lauren Goble (Aurora, Colo./Legend), who scored a 9.550 to win the event. Sabol placed second with a. 9.525, and Wilson recorded a 9.475 to finish third. Mylin tied for fourth with a 9.450, and Olinger placed eighth with her 9.250.
Wilson totaled a 37.925 to win the all-around, and Mylin finished second with a career-best 37.425.
The Warhawks return to action March 23 at UW-La Crosse. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
