Warhawks Continue Indoor Season Against UW-Oshkosh

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams racked up a number of strong performances Saturday in their second meet of the 2021 indoor season, a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual against UW-Oshkosh, at Kachel Fieldhouse.
 
For the men, Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) tallied a national top-five mark in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90, tying his personal record. Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) entered the top 15 of the 800-meter dash with his career-best time of 1:55.63.
 
Individual winners on the track included Luke Zanis (St. Charles, Ill./North), who won the 400-meter dash in 50.77 seconds, David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), who crossed the finish line in 8:25.80 in the 3,000-meter run, and Landon Keefover (Antioch, Ill./Antioch), who crossed the finish line first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.55 seconds.
 
Fassbender and Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights), who placed second in 8:26.64, rank third and fourth, respectively, in NCAA Division III in the 3K.
 
UW-Whitewater swept the field events, highlighted by performances from Curtis Pfeil (West Bend, Wis./West), who tied the nation's No. 2 distance in the long jump with a personal-best 23-01.75 (7.05 meters), and Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby), whose career-record mark of 47-01.75 (14.37 meters) ranks second in the nation. Brayden Zettle (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) ranks fifth in Division III with his personal record of 46-02.50 (14.08 meters) in the triple jump.
 
For the women, Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) duplicated her top performance of the season in the long jump with an 18-02.50 (5.55 meters), good for third in the nation.
 
Maddie Keifer (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) won the triple jump with her personal-best distance of 35-08.50 (10.88 meters), and Brooke Walling (Camp Douglas, Wis./Mauston) placed first in the high jump with a height of 5-02.25 (1.58 meters). Both marks currently rank among the nation's top 20.
 
Other winners for the women included Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown), who ran a time of 1:01.48 in the 400-meter dash, and Amanda Leder (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower), who completed the 1-mile run in 5:51.67.
 
Sydney Davidson (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) registered a season-best heaight of 10-11.75 (3.35 meters) in the pole vault, which is currently tied for 15th in Division III.
 
The Warhawks and Titans compete inside Kachel Fieldhouse again Friday, Feb. 19, at 5 p.m.
