The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team begins the second half of the regular season and continues Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday at UW-Oshkosh starting at 1 p.m.
The Warhawks concluded a run of playing four of its first five games at Perkins Stadium last Saturday with a 65-21 victory against UW-Platteville. UW-Whitewater piled up 641 yards of total offense and held the ball for nearly 36 minutes, including 10 minutes in the first quarter, when the team built a 23-0 advantage. The Warhawk defense held the Pioneers to 62 yards rushing and tallied a pair of interceptions in the contest.
The Warhawks remained at No. 3 in the latest D3football.com Top 25, earning 581 points from pollsters without receiving a first-place vote. UW-W is also third in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll, picking up 1,075 points and three first-place votes from panelists. The team was ranked second in the Lindy's Sports Preseason Division III Top 25 and fourth by College Football America.
UW-Oshkosh suffered its first loss of the 2021 season last Saturday, falling 30-21 at fellow nationally-ranked UW-La Crosse. The Titans led 21-7 at halftime before the Eagles scored 23 unanswered points in the second half, including the go-ahead field goal with 5:47 remaining and a touchdown just over four minutes later. UW-O was held to 74 yards of total offense in the second half after totaling 227 in the opening period.

SERIES
The Warhawks lead the all-time series against UW-Oshkosh, 77-30-5, with the teams splitting the last six games. On Nov. 16, 2019, UW-Oshkosh scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter as UW-Whitewater suffered a 27-20 setback on the road to close out the regular season. The Warhawks out-gained the Titans 311-236 on the day, but committed five turnovers in the game. Alex Peete (Ringwood, Ill./Johnsburg) ran for 80 yards and one touchdown, and Jacob Erbs totaled 13 tackles.
NOTABLE
Four of the last six games between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater have been decided by one possession. The exceptions are 2016 (UW-O, 37-20) and 2018 (UW-W, 20-0). The home teams are 5-1 during that span. (UW-W won as the road team in the 2015 playoffs.)
