The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater continues its push for a postseason berth this week with Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games Wednesday at home against UW-Stevens Point and Saturday at UW-River Falls.
Wednesday's game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be viewed live on UWW-TV on channel 100.1 on campus, Spectrum channel 989 for customers in the Whitewater area and
online. It can also be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area and online at

Saturday's game in River Falls, which begins at 5 p.m., will air live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH.

Last Wednesday,
Bailey Kale (La Crosse, Wis./Central) hit a go-ahead jumper with 34 seconds to play, and
James Burks (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside University HS) blocked a potential game-tying jumper on the other end in the closing seconds as the Warhawks posted a 65-63 win at nationally-ranked UW-La Crosse. Kale led the team with 18 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists, and
Breontae Hunt (Milwaukee, Wis./Bay View) collected a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
With six games to play following the bye weekend, UW-Whitewater (7-12 overall, 2-6 WIAC) trails UW-River Falls by one game for the sixth spot in the WIAC Tournament, which begins Feb. 25.
Wednesday – vs. UW-Stevens Point, 7 p.m.
UW-Stevens Point leads the all-time series against UW-Whitewater by a 104-85 margin. On Jan. 8 in Stevens Point, the Warhawks were unable to overcome a slow start, shooting 30.4 percent in the first half on their way to a 68-54 setback. Kale led the team with 19 points and
Equan Ards (Milwaukee, Wis./Hamilton) added 12 points.
The Pointers (13-6, 5-3) held visiting UW-River Falls to 34.4 percent shooting and Garrett Nelson hit a go-ahead jumper in the final minute of a 61-59 win last Wednesday. Nelson totaled 24 points, and Blake Ehrke registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. UW-Stevens Point closed to one game out of first place in the WIAC standings with the victory.
UW-Stevens Point owns the league's No. 1 scoring defense, allowing only 63.4 points per game. They average 68.1 points per game offensively, good for eighth in the conference. Ethan Bublitz leads the team and ranks fourth in the WIAC in scoring at 17.7 points per affair.
Saturday – at UW-River Falls, 5 p.m.
On Jan. 11, UW-Whitewater nearly erased an 18-point, second-half deficit, closing to within 66-64 with 1:44 remaining, but UW-River Falls hit back-to-back 3-pointers on its next two possessions to help preserve its 75-70 win. Ards recorded 29 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Warhawks, who totaled 28 second-chance points on 24 offensive rebounds in the contest.
The Falcons (10-9, 3-5) shoot 47.3 percent as a team, good for second in the league, and own the conference's No. 3 scoring offense at 76.4 points per game. Julian Jackson leads the team in both scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 per game) and ranks among the top six in the WIAC in both categories.
UW-Whitewater leads the all-time series between the two teams, 77-47.
UW-River Falls visits UW-Stout Wednesday before hosting the Warhawks on Saturday.
