The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team plays its lone game of the week this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at No. 16 UW-La Crosse.

The Warhawks (6-12 overall, 1-6 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) closed the first half of the conference season with a pair of losses last week, falling 77-56 at UW-Platteville and dropping a tightly-contested 73-71 contest against UW-Oshkosh.
On Wednesday in Platteville, UW-Whitewater fell behind 6-0 and never led in the game.
Equan Ards (Milwaukee, Wis./Hamilton) posted 19 points and five rebounds, and
Breontae Hunt (Milwaukee, Wis./Bay View) collected 13 points and six rebounds.
Against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, the Warhawks led by five at halftime and held a 71-70 advantage following a pair of free throws by
Riley Jensen (Milton, Wis./Janesville Craig) with 22 seconds left. The Titans hit a 3-pointer on the next possession, and time ran out before UW-W was able to get a shot up on the other end. Ards registered 24 points, and
Bailey Kale (La Crosse, Wis./Central) finished with 14 points and three steals.
On Jan. 15, UW-Whitewater took UW-La Crosse to overtime at Kachel Gymnasium, but the Eagles opened the extra period on a 9-1 run to emerge with an 84-78 win. Ards totaled 24 points and seven rebounds, and
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) recorded 16 points for the Warhawks, who came back from an 8-point deficit with 5:34 to play in regulation to force overtime.
UW-La Crosse (15-2, 5-2) has won two of three games since Jan. 15, including a 75-59 triumph at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday. Terek Nesheim contributed 18 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, who shot 52.1 percent from the floor and 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from 3-point range.
The Eagles lead the league in 3-point shooting (41.5 percent) and are holding opponents to 40.5 percent from the floor and 30.3 percent from 3-point range, both good for second in the WIAC. Ethan Anderson leads UW-L in scoring at 15.2 points per game.

On Saturday, the Warhawks teamed up with Barkley's Burgers, Brews and Dawgs of Janesville, the Tip-Off Club, community partners and fans to raise more than $3,000 for Kisses From Keegan & Friends, a local pediatric foundation.
The program would like to thank all who were involved in promoting the event and all who donated to the cause. UW-Whitewater looks forward to building on its partnership with Kisses From Keegan & Friends and hopes to make the event an annual initiative.
