The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team split its final two matches Saturday at the two-day Augsburg Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Warhawks (6-2 overall) finished the tournament with a 2-2 record. They defeated UMass Boston by a 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16 score before falling against St. Thomas (Minn.) by a 25-21, 23-25, 26-24, 25-14 count.
Following the conclusion of play, freshman outside hitter
Chloe Buescher (Janesville, Wis./Milton) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Against UMass Boston (1-4), UW-Whitewater hit a .295, including a .474 without and error in the second set.
Buescher led the offense with 12 kills to go along with 10 digs, three assists and five service aces. Senior middle hitter
Ashton Doll (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) registered 12 kills and added two blocks, and sophomore outside hitter
Emily Gillen (Richfield, Wis./Slinger) recorded seven kills. Senior outside hitter
Rachel Butterfield (Milton, Wis./Milton) totaled seven kills.
Freshman setter
Grace Mans (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) finished with a team-high 17 assists and added four digs. Freshman libero
Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) tallied 21 digs and added six assists, and sophomore defensive specialist
Hailey Mackenthun (Webster, Minn./Northfield) contributed 11 digs. Sophomore setter
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) finished with 10 digs to go along with her five assists.
In the match against St. Thomas (8-0), the Warhawks were held to a season-low .105 team hitting percentage.
Buescher earned a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, and Doll finished with 11 kills and a team-high six blocks. Gillen posted eight kills and two blocks, and freshman middle hitter
Mandi Boehm (Richfield, Wis./Slinger) had seven kills, four digs and three blocks.
Sotiros and sophomore setters
Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) tallied 12 assists apiece and combined for 11 digs. Jensen collected a team-best 24 digs and added two assists.
UW-Whitewater returns to action next weekend at the Wittenberg Fall Classic in Springfield, Ohio. The team faces No. 8 Wittenberg to start tournament play Friday at 6 p.m. Central Time.
