Men’s Soccer Picks Up Road Win

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team remained unbeaten for the 2019 season with a 2-1 victory at Illinois Tech on Saturday night in Chicago.

The Warhawks (3-0 overall), who own a nation-leading nine-match winning streak dating back to last season, took the lead for good as sophomore midfielder Andres Villarreal (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) took a throw-in from senior forward Hozai Ceballos (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) in the 82nd minute and headed the ball inside the back post.

Ceballos gave UW-Whitewater the first lead in the 11th minute with an unassisted tally. The Scarlet Hawks (1-1) leveled the match in the 26th minute on a rebounded miss.

The Warhawks held a 17-13 edge in shots for the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Jake King (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) picked up his third win of the season, totaling six saves in the effort.

Senior midfielder Kevin Mesich (West Allis, Wis./West Allis Hale) posted a team-high four shots. Ceballos, Villarreal and senior midfielder Henry Raymonds (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) each attempted three shots.
