The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team competed in a pair of preliminary events and one final Thursday on the first day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford), sophomore
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case), junior
Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) and sophomore
Tyreik Thomas (Racine, Wis./Case) qualified eighth in the race with a time of 41.39 seconds. The group will be one of nine teams in the final, which is set for Saturday at 11:15 a.m. Central Time.
Junior
Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) reached the final in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 53.02 seconds, good for eighth in the preliminary race. Saturday's final is set for 1:25 p.m. Central Time.
Sophomore
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) moved up two spots from his initial seed and finished 16th in the 10,000-meter run with a result of 32:17.96.
Action continues Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Central Time as junior
Landon Zimmerman (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) will throw in the shot put. Others scheduled to compete include senior
Dylan Ferger (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Turner) and sophomore
Quinn Halversen (Rockford, Ill./Christian) in the high jump at 1 p.m. Central Time, Duff in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary at 1:30 p.m. Central Time, and women's junior Abbie Felton in the 400-meter dash preliminary at 2 p.m. Central Time.
