The No. 23 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team continued its strong play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tuesday, winning two games at UW-Platteville.
The Warhawks (12-6 overall, 5-1 WIAC) posted a 9-1 victory in the opener before recording another solid offensive performance in the nightcap, a 10-3 triumph.
In Game 1, UW-Whitewater broke open a close game late with two runs in the eighth inning and four more in the ninth.
Senior
Jim Perkins (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) tallied his first win as a Warhawk, allowing only one run over six innings while striking out four. Sophomore
Evan Sigmund (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) tossed two shutout frames in relief, and junior
Keith Kutzler (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) pitched a scoreless ninth.
Senior third baseman
Cal Aldridge (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) homered for the fourth time in his last four games and finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Junior right fielder

Nick Santoro (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) collected two hits apiece.
The Warhawks plated two runs in the first on a run-scoring fielder's choice by senior catcher
Mike Aiello (Racine, Wis./Horlick) and a wild pitch that scored Aldridge.
UW-Whitewater added a run in the fifth on a leadoff home run by Aldridge, but the Pioneers (9-14, 4-6) responded with a run in the bottom of the seventh to draw within two.
Junior pinch hitter
Lucas Price (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) gave the Warhawks a three-run lead with a base hit, and later came around to score from third on a balk to make it 5-1.
Freshman left fielder
Zach Campbell (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) knocked a two-run double to right center to bring the advantage to six, Jensen plated a run and Price scored on a UW-Platteville error.
In the second game, UW-Whitewater pounced for three runs in the first, three in the second and three in the fourth. Aldridge registered two hits, three runs scored and one RBI, Santoro contributed two hits, two runs and one RBI, and Moroder finished with two hits and one RBI.
Freshman left fielder
Matt Korman (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) scored one run and knocked in three, and junior first baseman
Ben Wilkins (Sussex, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) totaled two hits and two RBI.

Riley Gruetzmacher (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) improved to 2-0 on the season, tossing six innings and finishing with three strikeouts. Freshman
