The No. 18 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team maintained its two-game lead in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings Sunday with a doubleheader split at UW-La Crosse.
The Warhawks (24-7 overall, 16-2 WIAC) topped the Eagles 14-3 in seven innings in the first game, and were edged 11-10 in the nightcap.
In Game 1, the Warhawks broke open a three-run game with eight in the top of the sixth inning, and senior third baseman
Cal Aldridge (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) knocked three home runs for the first time in his career.
Aldridge finished 3-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and five runs batted in. Sophomore shortstop
Nick Santoro (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) collected two hits, including one triple, and recorded five RBI. Senior second baseman
Nick Schrader (Cambridge, Wis./Jefferson) reached base four times with one hit and three walks and added two RBI, and junior first baseman
Lucas Price (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) and freshman left fielder
Matt Korman (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) each knocked in one run.
Sophomore pitcher
Westin Muir (St. Charles, Ill./North) improved to 5-0 with a complete-game performance, allowing three runs and striking out seven over seven innings of work.
Aldridge's first homer of the contest put UW-Whitewater ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, and Santoro's three-run triple made it a 4-0 advantage in the second.
After the Eagles (19-11, 14-4) plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth, the Warhawks responded with two in the fifth on a two-run homer by Aldridge to make it 6-3.
UW-Whitewater tallied five hits, drew three walks and was hit by three pitches during their eight-run sixth. Aldridge posted his third homer of the game, a two-run shot to right center, after Schrader singled home a pair of runs.
In a wild Game 2, the Warhawks held a 10-7 lead through seven, but UW-La Crosse scored three in the eighth to tie the game before walking off in the ninth on a sacrifice fly.
The two teams combined for 37 hits and 20 runners left on base.

Connor Moroder (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) finished with three hits apiece. Aiello scored two runs and knocked in four and knocked a home run. Korman collected two hits, one run scored and two RBI, and junior centerfielder
Noah Jensen (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) totaled two hits, including a home run.
Sophomore
Matt O'Sullivan (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) took the loss in relief, falling to 5-3 for the year. He was the fourth of four pitchers used by UW-Whitewater during the game.
The Warhawks wrap up the four-game set in La Crosse with a doubleheader Monday starting at 1 p.m.
