The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season Friday with a 75-48 triumph over Concordia Chicago on the first day of the two-day UW-Whitewater Tip-Off Tournament presented by Holiday Inn Fort Atkinson at Kachel Gymnasium.
The Warhawks (2-0 overall) shot 45.8 percent from the floor and hit 10-of-25 from the free-throw line while holding the Cougars to 28.1 percent from the field.
Four players finished in double figures for UW-Whitewater, led by senior guard
Becky Raeder (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls), who finished with a team-high 13 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Freshman forward
Abby Belschner (Grafton, Wis./Cedarburg) totaled 11 points on 4-of-4 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.

Courtney Oomens (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) registered 10 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
UW-Whitewater overcame a slow start to take a 13-11 advantage through one quarter. Junior guard
Emily Schumacher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) hit a buzzer-beating jumper to give the team the lead.
Concordia Chicago (1-1) tied the game two minutes into the second quarter, but the Warhawks took the lead for good on the next possession and extended their lead to as many as 16 in the period.
UW-Whitewater built on its 14-point halftime lead in the third as a pair of Belschner free throws gave the team a 54-35 advantage at the end of the period.

UW-Whitewater wraps up tournament play against No. 10 DePauw Saturday at 1 p.m. The Tigers defeated UW-Stevens Point 66-61 in Friday's other game.
