The No. 9 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team extended its win streak to nine matches Wednesday night with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 victory over UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference affair at Russell Arena.
The Warhawks (15-3 overall, 4-0 WIAC) held the Pioneers to a .077 hitting percentage and finished with advantages in team blocks (6-5) and service aces (8-6).
Senior middle hitter
Ashton Doll (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) paced the offense with eight kills on a .400 hitting percentage and added a team-best six blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Chloe Buescher (Janesville, Wis./Milton) tallied seven kills and added eight digs, and sophomore outside hitter
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) posted five kills and three blocks.

Maggie Streckert (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) registered 14 assists, three digs and two kills, and sophomore
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) totaled 12 assists, three service aces and three digs.

Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) recorded 15 digs and a pair of service aces. Sophomore defensive specialist
Hailey Mackenthun (Webster, Minn./Northfield) contributed eight digs and one service ace, and sophomore outside hitter
Emma Aske (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) finished with six digs and two service aces.
UW-Whitewater gained control of the first set midway through, turning a 12-12 tie into a 19-12 advantage on Aske's serve. UW-Platteville rallied to draw within 20-18, but the Warhawks scored five of the last seven points in the frame to take a 1-0 match advantage.
The Pioneers (14-7, 1-2) took control midway through the second set with a 5-1 run that gave them a 15-12 lead. They led 21-18 before UW-Whitewater's 5-1 run made it 22-22. UW-Platteville scored the next point, but the Warhawks closed the set with three straight points, including kills by McNeil and Streckert, to take a 2-0 lead.
UW-Whitewater jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the third set and held a 19-12 advantage before the Pioneers drew to within 21-20 following an 8-2 run. The two teams split the next six points, but the Warhawks made good on their third match point on a block by Doll and McNeil to end the match.
The Warhawks host the two-day Dig Panici Classic starting Friday, when they'll face Carroll at 12:30 p.m. and Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) at 6:30 p.m. The match against Gustavus will be the team's sixth annual
Dig Panici Night.
