Volleyball Dominates New Student Night

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball hosted St. Norbert Friday Night for New Student Night at the Williams Center.
 
The Warhawks (8-2) rolled through the Green Knights 25-16, 25-13, 25-17 for their third straight victory this week.
 
During the first set, the Warhawks slowly separated themselves from the Green Knights and sat with a 16-10 lead after a 6-2 run midway through the set.  Their lead would continue to build throughout the end of the set to a 25-16 score.  The Warhawks claimed a quick 4-1 lead in the second set and kept up their relentless assault on the Green Knights throughout the set, closing out the set with an 11-4 run.
 
The Warhawks did not let up in the third set, leading 8-3 to start and continuing to maintain their advantage throughout, finishing the match with a 4-1 run to clinch.
 
As a team, the Warhawks hit .348 for the evening and held St. Norbert to a .114 hitting percentage.  Freshman outside hitter Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) led the team effort with 10 kills and a .409 hitting percentage. Senior middle hitter teammate Kelley Berk (Cedarburg, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) added in a .533 hitting percentage of her own alongside 9 kills. 
 
Freshman setters KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) and Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) each contributed two aces and collected 19 and 16 assists, respectively, while freshman outside hitter Emily Gillen (Richfield, Wis./Slinger) led the squad with a pair of blocks.
 
The Warhawks will travel to La Crosse to play Wartburg (Iowa) at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
