The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks women's volleyball team hosted Elmhurst (Ill.) on Tuesday night at Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in the Williams Center.

The Warhawks (6-2) swept 25-16, 25-15, 27-25 in a decisive home victory.

In the first set, the Warhawks climbed out to an early 9-6 lead over the Blue Jays before going on a 7-0 run. Elmhurst closed within five before an error sparked a 5-0 Warhawk run to close out the first set 25-16, the Warhawk defense holding Elmhurst to a -.053 hitting percentage.  After battling back and forth to start the second, the Warhawks gave themselves room to breathe with an 8-2 run to leave themselves at a decisive 18-10 advantage. The Warhawks finished the second set with a victory fueled by a .429 hitting percentage.

The Warhawks found themselves in a tight third set before another error sparked a 5-1 run to take a 15-10 lead. Elmhurst charged back late to tie it at 25 apiece off of a 10-2 run. UW-Whitewater brought home the sweep with a pair of points thanks to an attacking error and a kill from freshman outside hitter

Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) hit home a career-high four aces to lead the Warhawks and added 19 assists and four digs. Junior outside hitter
Rachel Butterfield (Milton, Wis./Milton) contributed a team-best 14 kills alongside a .429 hitting percentage on 28 attempts.

KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) recorded a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs. Senior libero
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) led the back row with 21 digs, and freshman outside hitter
Emma Aske (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley)Â posted eight digs to go along with her six kills on a .429 hitting percentage.

As a team, the Warhawks held Elmhurst to a .088 hitting percentage for the match while recording a .266 hitting percentage themselves.

The Warhawks play again tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Kenosha against No. 19 Carthage College.
