The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team lost a Friday night dual in Green Bay.
The No. 40 Warhawks (8-3) had their eight-game winning streak snapped by University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (5-7) in a 6-1 dual, played under Division I rules.
In doubles, the Warhawks lost the lone point for the three matches. In an unfinished match, junior
Brandon Detcher (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) and senior
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) led in the no. 2 slot 5-3 when the doubles matches were called after the Warhawks dropped the no. 1 and 3 matches.
In singles, the Warhawks fell in the first four matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Lucas Monterroso (Montevideo, Uruguay/Colegio Jesus Maria) won the lone point for the team in a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 battle. Sophomore
Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) fell in the no. 6 slot to finish the night.
The Warhawks men's tennis team will be back in action Sunday against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.). The match will be held at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness in West Bend at 10 a.m.
