The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team concluded play in the NCAA Tournament Friday night.
Â
The No. 18 Warhawks (25-8) took on No. 1 Calvin (30-1), the host of the Grand Rapids, Michigan Regional, and lost the rematch in a 25-23, 25-18, 28-30, 25-17 affair.
Â
In the first set, a 12-6 Calvin run left the Warhawks down late. An 8-3 run put the Warhawks on top 23-22, but a 3-0 Calvin run put the set out of reach 25-22. The Warhawks battled hard into the second set, keeping pace with the number one team in the nation 11-11. Calvin went on a 9-3 run to pull ahead 20-14, and the Warhawks found themselves unable to catch up in the 25-18 set.
Â
In the third set, the Warhawks kept close with Calvin, the set tied at 17 later on. The Warhawks clawed out the slimmest of edges and battled back and forth with Calvin to stake their claim in a 30-28 set to stay alive. The Warhawks were down 7-2 early in the fourth and struggled to come back.  A late 6-1 set gave the Warhawks some life but it wasn't enough and they fell 25-17.Â
