The No. 4/5 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team hosts Bethel (Minn.) in an NCAA Division III Championship quarterfinal this Saturday, Dec.  1, at 12 p.m. at Perkins Stadium. The Warhawks earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid, while the Royals secured an at-large bid out of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Tickets for the game can be purchased in advance online at tickets.uww.edu or at the ticket window near the Perkins Stadium entrance starting at 10 a.m.

Saturday's game will air live on UWW-TV, channel 100.1 on campus, channel 989 for Spectrum customers in the Whitewater area and online. The contest can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area or online at 940wfaw.com. Fans can also track live game statistics here.

Last Saturday, UW-Whitewater totaled 528 yards of offense, including 397 on the ground, and scored 17 unanswered points late in the second quarter and in the third quarter to break open a one-possession game in a 54-21 victory over St. Norbert in a second-round affair at Perkins Stadium. The Warhawks posted three interceptions and held the Green Knights to 83 rushing yards, including 15 in the second half.

The Warhawks were ranked fourth in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll and held steady at No. 5 in the latest D3football.com Top 25 entering the postseason. UW-Whitewater garnered 542 points from D3football.com voters, only five points shy of No. 4 St. John's, and 1142 points from AFCA pollsters. The Warhawks were ranked sixth by Street & Smith entering the 2018 season.

Bethel, which is 11th in the D3football.com Top 25 and 15th in the AFCA Poll, grabbed a lead early in the third quarter and held on late for a 27-24 victory at No. 9/9 North Central (Ill.) in its second-round contest. The Royals gained 403 yards and held the ball for nearly 36 minutes in the game, and scored all four of their touchdowns on drives of 75 yards or more.

Saturday's game is the first ever between the two teams.

The winner of Saturday's game advances to the semifinal round of the playoffs to face the winner of Saturday's No. 3/5 St. John's (Minn.) at No. 2/2 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) game. The fourth-round contest will take place Saturday, Dec. 8, at a site to be announced Sunday.

NOTABLE

  • With their win over St. Norbert last Saturday, the Warhawks extended their win streak in November games to 55 games. The streak dates back to the team's last loss during the month, a 35-10 setback against UW-La Crosse on Nov. 13, 2004. During that span, UW-Whitewater has played 40 home games, 15 road games and 24 NCAA Playoff contests.
  • UW-Whitewater's offense has reached the 500-yard plateau four times in its last five games and five times in its last seven. Over the five-game span, the team is averaging 7.98 yards per play.?
