The No. 5 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team continues Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at UW-Stout.

Saturday's game can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area, or online at 940wfaw.com. Fans can also watch live video and follow live statistics courtesy of UW-Stout.

Last Saturday, the Warhawks jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and piled up 454 yards of total offense in a 44-7 triumph over UW-River Falls. UW-Whitewater tallied three interceptions to help stifle the Falcon offense, which entered the game as the conference's No. 1 rushing offense. The Warhawks' win was their fifth straight on Homecoming and pushed the program's all time record to 70-24-1 on the annual date.

The Warhawks remained at No. 4 in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll and moved up one spot to No. 5 in the latest D3football.com Top 25. UW-Whitewater garnered 529 points from D3football.com voters, only 10 points shy of No. 4 St. John's, and 1132 points from AFCA pollsters. The Warhawks were ranked sixth by Street & Smith entering the 2018 season.

UW-Stout scored 18 unanswered points between the 4:48 mark of the second quarter and the 7:10 mark of the fourth quarter and held off a late rally to defeat UW-Stevens Point by a 31-27 score in the Blue Devils' fourth straight game decided by six or fewer points. UW-Stout rushed for 236 yards and held the ball for more than 36 minutes. KeyShawn Carpenter rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils.

SERIES

UW-Whitewater owns a 49-10-2 advantage in the all time series and has won the last 16 meetings between the two teams. Last season, the Warhawks forced three turnovers and held UW-Stout to 2-of-14 on third down in a 14-0 victory at Perkins Stadium. Cole Wilber (Mission Viejo, Calif./Dana Hills) threw two touchdown passes. Nate Tranel (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) posted a team-high 11 tackles and Cal Durni (Brookfield, Wis./East) tallied 2.5 sacks to lead the defense, which held the Blue Devils to 1.6 yards per carry.

NOTABLE

  • The Warhawks' current 13-game winning streak ranks second in the nation behind Mount Union (22). During that streak, UW-Whitewater is outscoring opponents 417-73, or an average of approximately 32-6, over that span. The team has also posted four shutouts during the streak and seven other games of allowing seven points or fewer. The Warhawks have not allowed more than two touchdowns in a game since Sept. 30, 2017, at UW-Oshkosh.
  • With a win Saturday and a UW-Oshkosh loss at UW-Stevens Point, the Warhawks would clinch at least a share of the program's 36th conference championship.
  • After drawing more than 7,000 fans to last Saturday's game against UW-River Falls, UW-Whitewater ranks second in the nation in home attendance (8,971 per game).
