The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team closes the 2017 regular season this Saturday, Nov. 4, at Perkins Stadium in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest scheduled for 1 p.m. against UW-Eau Claire. Saturday's game also marks Senior Day, Shriners Day and Military Appreciation Day at UW-Whitewater.

Saturday's game can be viewed live on UWW-TV on channel 100.1 on campus, on Spectrum Digital channel 989 in the Whitewater area or online (non-Google Chrome web browser). It can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area or online at 940wfaw.com. Fans are also invited to track live statistics.

The Warhawks tallied 17 points in the first seven minutes of the third quarter and held off then-No. 20 UW-Platteville 17-16 last Saturday at Perkins Stadium. UW-Whitewater posted five sacks and forced three turnovers on defense, including two in the fourth quarter to thwart Pioneer drives into Warhawk territory. UW-Whitewater held on fourth down on UW-Platteville's final drive with 1:14 remaining in the contest.

The Warhawks were ranked third in both Street & Smith's preseason national rankings and the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 and 15th in Lindy's Sports Division III Top 25. UW-W is now 23rd in D3football.com's Top 25 and receiving votes in the AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll.

UW-Eau Claire tied third-ranked UW-Oshkosh at 7-7 in the first quarter, but the Titans scored on a 70-yard pass play on the first play of the next drive and never trailed, defeating the Blugolds 42-7 last Saturday in Oshkosh. UW-Eau Claire was outgained 536-195 in total offense despite holding the ball for more than 35 minutes of the affair.

SERIES

UW-Whitewater leads the all time series between the two teams, 46-22, and has won the last 15 matchups after UW-Eau Claire had been victorious in five straight between 1998-2002. None of the last four games have been decided by fewer than 35 points, including the Warhawks' 48-6 triumph on Oct. 29, 2016, in Eau Claire. Drew Patterson (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) scored four touchdowns and Marcus Hudson (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) totaled 187 all-purpose yards and one score to lead the offense, and Cal Durni (Brookfield, Wis./East) recorded three tackles for loss, including two sacks, to pace the defense, which forced three turnovers.
