Freshman centerfielder Caitlin Catino (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the 13th inning Sunday to give the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team a 2-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship title game in Eau Claire.

The win gave the Warhawks (28-12 overall) their fourth straight conference tournament championship and eighth overall.

UW-Whitewater also punched a ticket to its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 19th berth overall.

The Warhawks will find out where their NCAA regional destination Monday at noon Central Time during the NCAA Division III Softball Selection Show live on NCAA.com.

Freshman pitcher Julia Camardo (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) went the distance to pitch the third-most innings in one game in program history. She improved her record to 17-4 and struck out nine in the heroic, complete-game performance.

After the Blugolds (26-13-1) took the lead in the top of the 13th inning, sophomore left fielder Mallory Klotz (New Berlin, Wis./West) reached on an error and advanced to second to lead off the bottom half of the frame. Junior right fielder Jessica Kaemerer (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) walked to put runners at first and second, and freshman shortstop Emily Rux (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) advanced them with a sacrifice bunt.

Following an intentional walk and a fielder's choice, Catino roped a double to left center to plate junior first baseman Amy Ricci (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) and Kaemerer.

Each team stranded nine runners in the game, which ran for more than four hours.

Rux led the UW-Whitewater offense with three hits. Catino and Klotz posted two apiece.
