Baseball Moves to 3-0 Behind Offense

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The No. 8 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team pounded out 16 hits and didn't allow a run Tuesday in a 16-0 victory over St. Olaf (Minn.) at Lake Myrtle Park.
 
After three scoreless frames, the Warhawks (3-0 overall) tallied six times in the fourth, once in the fifth, six times in the sixth and three more times in the seventh. The game was called through seven innings by run rule.
 
Sophomore right-hander Lake Bachar (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) stymied the offense of the Oles (3-4), improving to 2-0 on the season with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
 
Junior lefty John Olejniczak (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) and sophomore RHP Heath Renz (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
 
Junior first baseman Steve Chamberlain (Rockford, IL/Guilford) finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored and four runs batted in to lead UW-Whitewater's potent offense. Sophomore designated hitter Austin Jones (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) collected three hits and three RBI, and junior second baseman Dylan Bersch (Pulaski/Pulaski) and freshman third baseman Cal Aldridge (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) registered two hits and two RBI apiece.
 
Sophomore left fielder Will Helbing (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) added two hits, and senior catcher Dane Burman (Milton, Wis./Milton) scored three runs and batted in two.
 
The Warhawks return to action Wednesday to face fellow 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifier St. Scholastica (Minn.) for a doubleheader at Lake Myrtle Park. The twin bill is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Central Time.
