The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team, ranked No. 1 in the nation by the American Football Coaches Association and No. 2 by D3football.com, will continue play in the NCAA Division III Playoffs this Saturday, Dec. 3, at noon against No. 10/6 John Carroll (Ohio), the Ohio Athletic Conference champion, in a national quarterfinal contest at Perkins Stadium.


Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens, and can be purchased at the ticket window near the front entrance of the stadium starting at 10 a.m.

 
Parking is available for $10 per spot in Lot 24 and $5 in Lots 7, 9, 11, 18 and 19. In all other campus lots, parking is free. Fans with season parking may use their pass for all postseason contests.


Saturday's game can be viewed live on UWW-TV, which is found on channel 100 on campus, channel 989 for Charter Digital customers in southern Wisconsin or online, and on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, which is found on channel 32/1332 HD in Eastern Wisconsin or channel 310/1310 HD in Ohio. The contest can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area or online at 940wfaw.com. Fans can also track live statistics.

The Warhawks (12-0 overall) scored 30 unanswered points en route to a 37-9 victory over No. 17/20 Wittenberg (Ohio) in the second round last Saturday. UW-Whitewater converted 10-of-17 on third down, possessed the ball for more than 38 minutes and totaled 496 yards of offense. Saturday's win was the Warhawks' 32nd consecutive victory at Perkins Stadium, a school record, and the program's 33rd straight at home in the postseason.

UW-Whitewater opened the postseason with a 45-27 triumph over Lakeland in the first round on Nov. 19 at Perkins Stadium. The Warhawks scored the first 28 points of the game and rushed for 263 yards and held the Muskies to 27 yards on the ground.

John Carroll (11-1) qualified for its third-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III quarterfinal round with a 20-17 victory in double overtime against No. 18/22 Wesley (Del.). After the two teams exchanged touchdowns in the first overtime, Wesley converted a 47-yard field goal on the first possession of the second overtime. Anthony Moeglin completed consecutive passes on the ensuing drive, including the game-winning, 14-yard touchdown toss to Anthony Leonetti. The Blue Streaks finished with 255 yards passing in the contest and totaled nine sacks defensively.

SERIES

Saturday's game is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

NEXT UP

The winner of Saturday's game will move on to the semifinal round to face the winner of No. 5/6 UW-Oshkosh at No. 3/3 St. Thomas (Minn.). Game time and location will be announced following the conclusion of the quarterfinal games.

NOTABLE

  • Through the conclusion of the 2015 season, UW-Whitewater owns the highest all time winning percentage in the history of the NCAA Division III Playoffs with a 46-7 record, good for a .868 winning percentage.
  • With a 4-0 record in November of this season, the Warhawks have now won 49 straight contests during that month. The streak dates back to the team's last loss during the month, a 35-10 setback against UW-La Crosse on Nov. 13, 2004.
