The No. 7 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team saw its fantastic 2016 campaign come to a close Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 setback against Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship third round contest at Fiskum Field.

The Warhawks (22-2 overall) conclude the season with school records in wins (22) and longest win streak (21). The team swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships.

Under the leadership of seniors Carina Krausert (Delafield, Wis./Catholic Memorial), Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek), the Warhawks posted an overall record of 76-12-4, good for an incredible .848 winning percentage. The team claimed three WIAC regular season championships, three conference tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a record run to the national quarterfinals in 2015, over the last four years.

Reid graduates as the program's all time leading scorer with 140 points on a school-record 61 goals and 18 assists. Pottle finished with 94 points (37 goals, 20 assists), good for fifth in the program record book, and Krausert collected 37 points (11 goals, 15 assists) as a four-year starter, including two at defender.

On Saturday, the Sagehens (17-1-3) recorded all three of their goals during a 25-minute span in the second half and outshot the Warhawks 21-6 in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) tallied nine saves and finished the season with an 18-1 record.

With the win, Pomona-Pitzer advances to face No. 11 Chicago, a 3-1 winner over No. 4 Thomas More (Ky.) in the third round, on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fiskum Field.
