The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team controlled play Sunday afternoon but was denied a road victory in a 1-0 setback at St. Norbert.
The Warhawks (7-4-3 overall) outshot the Green Knights 19-12 and finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net for the first time in a match this season.
St. Norbert (11-3) scored on a header in the 60th minute and held off UW-Whitewater the rest of the way.
Junior goalkeeper
Chris Lucatorto (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) made six saves but was saddled with the loss to fall to 7-4-3 for the season.
Senior midfielder
Jordan Kayser (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) totaled a team-high five shots to lead the Warhawk offense. Sophomore midfielder
Taylor Ortiz (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) tried three shots, and senior midfielder
Michael Salm (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) and sophomore midfielder
Jack Wirth (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) attempted two apiece.
UW-Whitewater continues its three-match road swing Wednesday at Monmouth (Ill.). Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
