AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll
The No. 2 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team continues Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Oct. 22, against UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m during Homecoming Weekend at UW-Whitewater.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live by UWW-TV online, on Charter Channel 989 in southern Wisconsin and campus Channel 100.1. The contest can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area or online at 940wfaw.com. Live statistics are also available.
Last Saturday, the Warhawks (6-0 overall, 3-0 WIAC)Â tallied their third straight fourth-quarter comeback, tallying 11 unanswered points on their way to a 32-22 victory at UW-La Crosse, which entered the contest undefeated. UW-Whitewater forced four turnovers without commiting one of its own and rushed for 173 yards offensively en route to taking sole possession of first place in the WIAC.
UW-Whitewater remained at No. 2 in both the D3football.com Top 25 and the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches Poll. The team garnered two first-place votes from D3football.com voters and five from the AFCA. The Warhawks were ranked second in Lindy's Sports Division III Preseason Top 25 and third in both The Sporting News' preseason national rankings and the D3football.com Preseason Top 25.
UW-Stevens Point (4-2, 1-2) outgained fifth-ranked UW-Oshkosh in total yardage at home on Saturday, but was outlasted 13-3. The Pointers were held to 57 rushing yards and committed four turnovers as UW-Oshkosh broke a 3-3 tie with 10 points in the second quarter. In the second half, UW-Stevens Point was pinned inside its own 15-yard line to start on four of its eight drives.
SERIES
Saturday's game is the 96th meeting between the two teams. Since UW-Stevens Point won three straight games in the series from 2002-04, UW-Whitewater has claimed 10 of the last 12 match-ups, including three straight. The Warhawks scored the first 21 points of last season's contest and hung on late for a 35-27 victory on October 24, 2015, in Stevens Point. Jordan Ratliffe (Milwaukee/Milwaukee Vincent) registered 86 yards and tied a school record with four touchdowns, and Marcus Hudson (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Chris Nelson (Twin Lakes/Wilmot Union).Â

The Warhawks visit UW-Eau Claire next Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

- UW-Whitewater owns a 67-24-1 all time record in Homecoming games, good for a .734 winning percentage. The team has won three straight, including last year's 63-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire. The Warhawks are 9-7 all time against UW-Stevens Point in Homecoming contests.
