The Warhawks (6-4 overall) alternated wins and losses throughout the day, defeating Heidelberg (Ohio) by a 23-9 count and downing No. 21 Mount Union (Ohio) 21-12. The team was defeated 28-13 against second-ranked Augsburg (Minn.) and 21-19 by 11th-ranked Johnson & Wales (R.I.).
Senior
Tom Gerszewski (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) led UW-Whitewater, tallying a 4-0 record at 165 pounds. Gerszewski, who is listed as a contender by D3wrestle.com, registered a 10-2 major decision over Augsburg's Eric Hensel, who is ranked third in the nation by the NWCA and fourth by D3wrestle.com. He also added one technical fall and another major decision on the day.
Senior
Matt Adcock (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park), sophomore
Isaiah Vela (West Chicago, Ill./St. Charles East) and freshman
Nicholas Bonomo (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) each finished 3-1 for the day.
At 141 pounds, Adcock, the nation's consensus No. 2 wrestler, earned a forfeit win and two decisions, including a 4-0 triumph over Heidelberg's Justin Kihn, who is ranked eighth by the NWCA and is listed as a contender by D3wrestle.com.
Vela finished with two decisions and one major decisions. The 149-pounder, who is slotted third in the country by both the NWCA and D3wrestle.com, posted an 8-5 decision over Heidelberg's Damon Cheek, a contender according to D3wrestle.com.
Bonomo, who is listed as a contender by D3wrestle.com at 184, recorded all three victories by decision.
Junior
Zac Denny (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem), a contender at 125 pounds according to D3wrestle.com, finished 2-2 for the day, including a pin against Augsburg's James Goman. At 157 pounds, freshman
Brandon Arteaga (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) was also 2-2.

Joseph Brodman (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) was 2-1 at 133 pounds, including an 8-5 decision over Johnson & Wales' Joseph Ferinde, a D3wrestle.com contender.
