The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team opened their 2015 season on the road with a 1-0 loss to fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois Tuesday night.

The lone goal of the match came in the 15th minute after a header by Emily Snider found the back of the net.

UW-Whitewater responded by keeping the ball on their offensive half of the field and earning three corner kicks and two shots over the course of the next seven minutes.

Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) put a shot on net in the 26th minute, but the Titan goalkeeper made the save.

Another shot by
Karina Rosales (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) in the 44th minute was blocked and the Warhawks went into halftime trailing 1-0.

Reid put another shot on net in the 63rd minute and
Sierra High (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) fired one on goal in the 72nd minute, but Katie Denney made two stops to hold the Warhawks scoreless in the match.

The Titans outshot the Warhawks 12-8 but both teams put three on net. Freshman goalkeeper
Erin Doody (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) made three saves for the Warhawks in her collegiate debut.

The Warhawks will travel to Duluth, Minn. this weekend to participate in the Advantage Emblem Cup hosted by St. Scholastica. UW-Whitewater will face the Saints Saturday at 2 pm and Concordia-Moorhead Sunday at 2 pm. Both opponents advanced to the NCAA DIII Tournament in 2014.
