The Warhawks are making their 10th NCAA appearance in the last 11 years, and the program's 13th overall. They were one of six at-large, or Pool C, selections. The Titans are making their second trip to the national tournament in the last four years after earning the WIAC's automatic bid by virtue of their ninth conference title.
UW-Whitewater (11-1 overall)Â scored all 31 of its points in the first half and used a balanced offensive attack (185 rushing yards, 222 passing yards) to defeat sixth-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) 31-17 in a second round contest last Saturday. The Warhawks' defense held the Thunder to 2-of-6 on fourth down conversions, making three of the fourth-down stands in the fourth quarter.
The Warhawks are ranked fifth in the latest D3football.com Top 25 and eighth in the most recent American Football Coaches Association poll. UW-Whitewater was ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason by D3football.com, second by Lindy's Sports and third by The Sporting News.Â
UW-Oshkosh (11-1)Â tallied 35 unanswered points over the last three quarters and held Ohio Northern to 81 passing yards and 1-of-5 on fourth down in a 42-7 victory last Saturday in Oshkosh. Running back Dylan Hecker and wide receiver CJ Blackburn registered two touchdowns apiece for the Titans, who held the ball for just over 22 minutes of the contest but averaged 8.1 yards per play.
SERIES
Saturday's game is the 108th meeting between the two teams. UW-Whitewater leads the all time series 74-28-5. The two teams have split the last four meetings. UW-Oshkosh snapped the Warhawks' 36-game win streak back on Oct. 10 in a 10-7 affair at Titan Stadium.

The winner of Saturday's contest moves on to the semifinal round on Dec. 12 to play the winner of the third round game between No. 11 Wesley (Del.) and top-ranked host Mount Union (Ohio). The game will be broadcast live on the Web on ESPN3.
