The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team concludes the regular season this Saturday with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest against UW-Stout at 2 p.m. The game marks Senior Day, Shriners' Day and Military Appreciation Day at Perkins Stadium. The Warhawks can clinch a share of the WIAC championship with a victory and a UW-Oshkosh loss against UW-Eau Claire.

The Warhawks piled up more than 500 yards for the third time in their last four games and tallied 28 unanswered points over the final three quarters en route to a 42-6 triumph at UW-River Falls last Saturday. Defensively, UW-Whitewater held the Falcons to 6-of-16 on third down and 1-of-4 on fourth down and held UW-River Falls to just 2.7 yards per carry in the running game. The Warhawks compiled 340 passing yards, their second highest total of the year.

The Warhawks remained at sixth in the D3football.com Top 25 this week, and stayed at 10th in the American Football Coaches Association poll. UW-Whitewater was ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason by D3football.com, second by Lindy's Sports and third by The Sporting News. 

UW-Stout scored a touchdown with 25 seconds remaining to defeat UW-Stevens Point 34-31 last Saturday in Menomonie. The Blue Devils allowed 21 unanswered points and surrendered their lead with just over two minutes to play, but drove 80 yards in five plays, including a two-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal from Hank Kujak to Reggie Kujak. UW-Stout recorded 507 yards of total offense while allowing 484 defensively.

SERIES

Saturday's game is the 59th between the two teams. UW-Whitewater leads the all time series 46-10-2, and has won the last 13 meetings between the two teams. The Warhawks forced four turnovers and posted 21 points in the second quarter in a 37-0 victory at UW-Stout on Oct. 11, 2014. UW-Whitewater outgained the Blue Devils 513-242 in total yards for the contest.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Warhawks' postseason fate will be determined Sunday as the NCAA airs its Division III Football Selection Show at 5 p.m. Central Time on NCAA.com. UW-Oshkosh has clinched the conference's automatic bid to the postseason.

NOTABLE

UW-Whitewater will recognize its 17-member senior class prior to today's game. Over the last four years, the Warhawks own a record of 45-4 record along with two WIAC championships and two NCAA Division III national titles.The group has amassed 10 All-WIAC accolades and four All-America honors. All 17 players have been starters or key reserves during their careers.
