Warhawks Fall to MSOE on the Road

Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team dropped to 3-2 with a 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on a windy night at Viets Field, a facility built on top of a parking garage, in Milwaukee Wednesday.

The Warhawks put the pressure on the Raiders right out of the gate as Carina Krausert (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) put a shot on goal just 1:11 into the contest that was saved by MSOE goalie Sydney Stephens.

Jordan Myers (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) thwarted the first MSOE scoring chance before the nine minute mark and Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) retaliated with another opportunity for the Warhawks at the 13:27 mark but her shot hit the post.

Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) got in on the offensive action with two shots in four minutes midway into the first half. The first was blocked and her second, a header, flew just wide of the goal. Just over a minute later, with 26:08 showing on the clock, Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) put a shot on goal that was saved by the Raider keeper.

Sarah Sedlar (Racine, Wis./Racine Case) kept the offensive barrage going for the Warhawks with another shot on goal at 26:41 but was stymied by Stephens in goal.

At 29:22, MSOE's Sara Travia blasted a shot that hit off the cross bar and Natalie Gayner was there for the rebound to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

UW-Whitewater's keeper Jordan Myers (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) kept MSOE off the board the rest of the half with two saves.

The Warhawk offense put the pressure on the Raider defense in the second half but couldn't beat the keeper. MSOE's Caitlin Liddlard launched a corner kick into the box at 84:23 that Carley Mitus was able to head into the goal to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.

Lesperance had another opportunity at the 87:05 mark but Stephens registered the save to seal the game.

UW-Whitewater is 3-2 this season and MSOE holds a 3-1 record.

The Warhawks will head to St. Paul, Minn. to take on St. Catherine's University Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m.
