The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball team will take on the UW-Oshkosh Titans in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinal hosted by UW-Stevens Point in Berg Gymnasium at 5 p.m. Friday. The Warhawks, co-WIAC champions with Stevens Point, earned the number two seed and a first round bye in the WIAC Championships after compiling a 7-1 league record. UW-Whitewater boasts a 27-5 record this season and have won 16 of their last 18 matches.
UW-Oshkosh, the number three seed, defeated sixth seed UW-Platteville 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) in Oshkosh Tuesday night to advance to the semifinal. The Titans are 22-11 overall this season and 3-3 in their last six contests.
Earlier this season, UW-Whitewater swept UW-Oshkosh 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) in Russell Arena handing the Titans their first loss of 2014. The Warhawk offense hit .301 bolstered by 12 kills from senior right side

Jessica Sabey (Merrill/Merrill) and sophomore
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) combined for 21 kills and four blocks in the match.
In the other semifinal Friday, four seed UW-River Falls will take on top-seeded UW-Stevens Point at 7:30. The semifinal winners advance to the championship match scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner of the WIAC Championship will earn the league's automatic bid into the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Championship.
The Warhawks secured the program's 15th WIAC title in the final regular season match of 2014 against UW-Superior last week. UW-Whitewater has won the league tournament 14 times, ten more than any other team in the conference.
