Women's Soccer Wins in Dramatic Fashion

Box Score It was a tale of two halves as the Warhawk women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat UW-Oshkosh 3-2 Wednesday at J.J. Keller Field in Oshkosh.  The women remain undefeated with a 7-0-2 record overall and a 2-0-0 record in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  The Titans fall to 3-5-1 and 1-1-0.

Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute when Ashley Nicholas slid one past UW-W goalkeeper Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) on a breakaway.  Fifty-five seconds later the Titans made it 2-0 and all the momentum seemed to be swinging their way.

The Titans carried the 2-0 lead into halftime and held on to it twenty minutes into the second half.

That's when the momentum shifted.

In the 67th minute the Warhawks earned a corner kick.  Sierra High (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) was elected to take the corner and sent the ball into the box where Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) headed it in for her fourth goal of the year.  Five minutes later Reid struck again to tie the game at two.

With less than nine minutes remaining in the match, the Warhawks finished off the comeback when Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) scored her second goal of the season, and the game winner, when she knocked in a loose ball just in front of the goal.

For the first time this season the Warhawks were outshot, 14-13.

Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) made five saves in the game to improve to 6-0-2.

UW-W will host UW-Eau Claire at 7 pm at Fiskum Field on Saturday, September 28.
