Box Score The UW-Whitewater volleyball team improved to 13-3 with a 3-1 (27-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-23) win over Edgewood College Friday in Madison. The Warhawks are now winners of eleven straight matches, and in the process snapped a three match win streak by the Eagles, who are now 11-3. UW-W is ranked nineteenth in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, the same poll that Edgewood is receiving votes.
Four Warhawks tallied double digit totals for kills including
Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) who pounded down the final two points in set one and set four. Feiertag and
Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) each notched 15 kills while
Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah) and
Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) recorded 13 and 10 respectively.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 54 assists and now has over 500 assists this season.
Defensively, four Warhawks reached double digits in digs.
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) added 19 digs to her team leading total and has almost two times as many digs as any other Warhawk. Tess Weber chipped in 13 and Frei and
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) added 11 each.
The Warhawks hit .250 for the match compared to .188 for Edgewood.
UW-W will take the rest of the weekend off and resume play on September 25 when they travel to UW-Stevens Point for a conference match.
