Box Score A goal by each team in each half led to a 2-2 double overtime tie for UW-Whitewater and North Central Sunday in Naperville, Illinois. The Warhawks opened the season with a 2-2 double overtime tie and have since won five games. After Sunday's match the Warhawks are 5-0-2 overall. The Cardinals are 0-4-2.
Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) notched her team leading fourth assist in the 22nd minute when she found
Carina Krausert (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) for a goal to open up scoring and give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead. Just over twenty minutes later the Cardinals retaliated to tie the game.
Three minutes and 22 seconds into the second half
Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) scored her team leading fourth goal of the season off of a pass from
Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) to give the Warhawks a 2-1 lead. UW-W held onto that lead until the 89th minute when Cardinal midfielder Hope Stayer scored the equalizer. North Central held on to force the game into overtime.
In the first overtime there was a total of three shots fired, two by North Central and one by Whitewater, but neither team was able to score. UW-W turned up the heat in the second OT notching four shots to none for the Cardinals, but again no one was able to score and the game ended in a tie.
UW-W outshot the Cardinals 13-12 and has outshot their opponent in every game this season. The Warhawks have also scored two or more goals in six of seven games this year.
The Warhawks will travel to River Falls on September 21 to open the defense of their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in a match beginning at 3:00 pm.
