The top-ranked UW-Whitewater women's gymnastics team won its third Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional title in the last four seasons. The Warhawks brought home the title in 2010 and 2011 before taking second last season. UW-W's total team score of 187.650, eighth best in the UW-W record book was bolstered by two individual conference champions,
Delina Phillips (Capac, MI/) on the vault and
Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) on the uneven bars. The top three teams in the west region, UW-W, UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire, will join the top three from east region in the NCGA National Championships hosted by UW-Whitewater Friday-Saturday, March 22 and 23.

The Warhawks started off the meet on the uneven bars. Dieringer's bars routine scored 9.625, the best in the field, for Whitewater's fourth uneven bars title in school history. She joins Justine Weyer's three bars titles from 2008, 2009 and 2010. Specialist
Annie Mix (Olive Branch, MS/SBEC) was fifth in the event with a 9.425 and
Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) rounded out the top ten, tying for eighth with a 9.175. UW-W was in sixth place after the first complete rotation with La Crosse leading the way by over two points.
Thompson and
Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill) led Whitewater on the balance beam, placing ninth and tenth respectively with scores of 9.525 and 9.5. The team totaled 46.35 to jump up to fourth in the standings. Eau Claire took over the top spot after two events.
A school record on the floor brought the Warhawks closer.
Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) led the Warhawk scoring five with a 9.725, third best in the school's record book and eighth in the event. Young's career best of 9.7 tied for tenth best in the meet. Whitewater totaled 48.450, the best in UW-W history, to move the Warhawks into third with one rotation left. The Blugolds remained on top of the team standings.
With the meet on the line, the Warhawks used a vault total of 47.175 to surpass UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire.
Delina Phillips (Capac, MI/) led the charge with a routine posting a score of 9.525, the best in the meet. Phillips is just the second league champion on the vault, joining Justine Weyer's 2008 title.
Hannah Lee (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) tied for third with a 9.475 and two Warhawks shared eighth with 9.425's,
Megan Love (Henrico, VA/Godwin) and Talcott.
Team scores in the meet were: UW-Whitewater 187.650, UW-La Crosse 187.025, UW-Eau Claire 186.650, Winona State 185.250, UW-Stout 184.400, UW-Oshkosh 183.050, Hamline 181.300, and Gustavus Adolphus 178.075.
The top three teams from the two regionals will advance to the NCGA Championships hosted by UW-Whitewater. Team competition is scheduled for 5:00 pm Friday, March 22 with individual competition slated for 4:00 pm Saturday.
