Gymnasts Edged by La Crosse in Quad

The Warhawk women's gymnastics team took second by just .05 in the Harley Davidson meet held at the Delta Airlines Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Friday night. UW-La Crosse came back in the final rotation to win the quad with a team score of 187.250. UW-W was second with 187.200, UW-Stout took third with 185.700 followed by UW-Oshkosh, 185.975.

Meet Results

The Warhawks started off the night on the vault. Hannah Lee (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) posted the best score in the competition with a 9.625 to lead Whitewater to a 47.550 team score in the event. Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) was fourth among all competitors on the apparatus with a score of 9.575.

In the second rotation, UW-W took to the uneven bars boasting a 47.200 team total in the event, the third highest bars team score in UW-W history. The final individual results showed Warhawks in second, third and fourth place in the event led by Thompson's 9.600 in second. Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) was third with a 9.55 and Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood)'s performance scored a 9.525 for fourth. UW-Stout's Brittany DeZiel won the bars competition with a 9.65.

Three Warhawks placed in the top five in the balance beam led by Dieringer's 9.7, good for second place. Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill) posted a 9.65 and Siri Wischmann (Delano, MN/Delano) had a 9.625 as the anchor for the Warhawk squad. The team totaled 46.250 on the beam and headed into the final rotation with a 141.000-140.325 lead over UW-L. The Eagles' Christa Booman posted a 9.75 on the beam, the top score in the meet.

Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) topped all competitors on the floor exercise with a routine that scored 9.625. The Warhawks totaled 46.200 in the event but were edged as La Crosse posted a 46.925 on the balance beam to surpass Whitewater for the lead by just .05.

Booman took the all-around title with a total of 37.85.

The Warhawks will travel to Winona, Minnesota, Saturday, February 23 for a 1:00 start against Winona State.
