UW-W Completes Perfect Conference Season

Box Score The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 4-1 victory at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon. The Warhawks finished the year unbeaten with a 14-0-4 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play, earning a first round bye in the league championship.
 
Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek), UW-W's leading scorer, added her 10th and 11th goals of the year as she scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute and added an insurance goal in the 65th minute of play. Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) had a goal and an assist, Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) scored her third goal of the year and Jessica Allemang (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) tallied her fourth assist this year. UW-W outshot UW-SP by a total of 18-4, including 9-0 in the first half. The Warhawks held a 14-2 margin in corner kicks, with two goals coming off of those set plays.
 
Whitewater dominated the first half, firing four shots in the first 10 minutes of play. The Warhawks kept the field tilted and were able to get four shots on goal and seven corner kicks in the half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
 
UW-Whitewater finally found the back of the net when Woodson converted on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. That's when the flood gates opened. Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) scored two goals off of corners just four minutes apart and Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) capped UW-W's scoring when she beat the keeper to the low right side of the net in the 67th minute.
 
Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) earned the win in net to improve to 14-0-4 on the year, making two saves and allowing one goal that came in the 88th minute.
 
The Warhawks will host the lowest remaining seed November 9 at 6:00 pm at Fiskum Field.
