Box Score The Warhawk volleyball team, ranked seventeenth in the latest AVCA poll, held UW-River Falls to a negative attack percentage in a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) sweep of the Falcons on the road Saturday afternoon. UW-W is 18-5 overall and 3-1 in the WIAC. UW-RF falls to 11-7 and 2-3 in league play.
Whitewater hit .256 with 33 kills in the three set match Saturday. The Warhawks added seven service aces and the defense posted seven total blocks holding UW-RF to a -.021 attack percentage.
Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) led all players with 10 kills followed by
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) with nine.
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) recorded a match high 16 digs and setter
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) had 27 assists.
The Warhawks will host their third invitational of the season Friday-Saturday, October 11 and 12. UW-W will open the invite against Westminster College (MO) Friday at 3:00. A special ceremony will take place before Whitewater's 7:00 match against Washington University-St. Louis as the Warhawks will dedicate the volleyball locker room in honor of former UW-Whitewater volleyball player Lisa Panici.
Saturday's schedule has the Warhawks facing the College of St. Catherine at 10:00 followed by a 12:00 matchup with DePauw.
