Volleyball Splits at Coe

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The UW-Whitewater volleyball team traveled to Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Friday and defeated Wartburg 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16) but lost to Coe 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-19). UW-W is now 21-9 overall while Wartburg falls to 17-9 and Coe improves to 29-3.

Brittney Langley (Winnebago, IL/Winnebago) hit .297 with 14 kills to lead the Warhawks in their win over Wartburg. Langley added one assist, one ace, one block-assist and fifteen digs in the match. Her 14 kills are more than two times her previous season high of six, which she accomplished on three separate occasions.

Teammate Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) chipped in ten kills while Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 32 assists. UW-W notched eleven aces in the match which ties the previous season high set against UW-La Crosse on September 18. Frei earned six of those aces while Ruchti and Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) had two each, and Langley the other.

Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) recorded an individual season high with 24 digs in the match.

The Warhawks held the Knights to a .144 hitting percentage and totaled 7.5 blocks. Wartburg's Maddie Forsyth led all players with 17 kills.

Errors of all kinds hindered the Warhawks against Coe. UW-W totaled 16 hitting errors, seven service errors, 12 receiving errors, and one blocking error. No Warhawk reached double figures for kills, they hit just .150 as a team and they notched just one ace in the match.

Coe's Brianna Smith led all players with 11 kills and a .588 hitting percentage.

The Warhawks' next match will be Wednesday, October 25 when they host conference foe UW-Eau Claire. UW-W is 3-2 in the WIAC while the Blugolds are 4-1.
