Box Score UW-Whitewater volleyball fell to UW-Oshkosh 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 34-32) on the road Wednesday night. The Warhawks are 20-8 this season and 3-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Oshkosh improves to 15-8 and 4-2 in league play.
UW-W took the early lead in the match with a close 25-23 first set win but the Titans turned the tables in set two. The Warhawks led 22-20 in the second set but the Titans scored five of the next six points to even the match 1-1.
A 7-2 Oshkosh run in the middle of the third set gave the Titans their first lead of the set, 13-10. UW-W battled back to knot the score 15-15 but Oshkosh regained the lead and held on to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The six point differential in the final score of the third set, 25-19, was the largest gap in the match.
The teams battled to seven set points in the fourth set, running the score into the 30's before Oshkosh was able to post back-to-back points for the 34-32 set and match win. The set was the longest in program history since rally scoring changed from 30 to 25.
Freshman outside hitters
Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) and
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) led the Warhawks at the net pounding down 16 and 15 kills respectively.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 50 assists in the match. Defensively,
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) had 14 digs and
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) added 13. UW-Oshkosh's Katelyn Malcheski took match honors with 17 kills. Â
UW-W will head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to compete in the Coe Triangular Friday, October 18. The Warhawks take on Wartburg at 4 and follow with a 6:15 matchup against Coe College.Â
