The UW-Whitewater gymnastics team kicked off their season with a win in the Gustie Triangular hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota Saturday afternoon. UW-W totaled 184.200. UW-Stout took second with 180.900 and GAC was third with 173.575.
The Warhawks took to the uneven bars in the first rotation.
Annie Mix (Olive Branch, MS/SBEC)'s 9.5 led UW-W and was the top score in the event in the competition.
Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) scored a 9.475 for second place.
Megan Love (Henrico, VA/Godwin) led the Warhawks on the balance beam in the second rotation with a 9.4, the top score in the event.
Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) added a third place finish as Whitewater totaled 45.500 in the event. After two complete rotations UW-W led UW-Stout by just 0.22, 90.775-90.55, and GAC was in third with 85.425.

Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood), Thompson,
Siri Wischmann (Delano, MN/Delano) and
Kaitlyn Weber (Kansas City, MO/Oak Park) combined to score 46.950 on the floor exercise. The Warhawks had five of the top seven scores in the event including Dieringer's 9.6 in first and a 9.525 from Talcott for second.
The Warhawks finished strong in the vault. Love and Thompson tied for second in the event with scores of 9.4. Talcott and Wischmann garnered fifth place honors posting 9.25 each. The team totaled 46.475 in the vault to compose a total meet score of 184.400.
Thompson took second in the all-around with a total of 37.100. Brittany DeZiel of UW-Stout won the all-around with a score of 37.150.
UW-Whitewater will travel to Denton, Texas for a quadrangular hosted by Texas Woman's University, featuring Brigham Young University and the University of Arizona Saturday, January 19 at the Kitty Magee Arena at 7:00. The Warhawks will host UW-Oshkosh for their first home competition Saturday, January 26 beginning at 4:00 in Williams Center.
